Who We Are, What We Believe In

Positive Energy is an alliance of Bainbridge Island citizens and organizations actively committed to creating a clean energy future for the Island. Formerly known as the Community Energy Task Force, we were founded in May 2009 following a community call to action to increase awareness of our energy challenges on and off the island and to help our community reduce their energy costs through clean energy solutions.

Positive Energy is a project of Sustainable Bainbridge, a broad-based network of local organizations, businesses, government and individuals to protect and strengthen our community's social, environmental, and economic sustainability for current and future generations.

Bainbridge Island is a recognized leader in realizing a clean, sustainable and economically advantageous energy future.

Our Mission

To educate, inspire and mobilize our community to create a clean energy future for Bainbridge Island through energy efficiency, conservation and renewable energy generation.

Our Goals

To ensure a clean energy future for Bainbridge Island by:

• Achieving 20% energy savings on the Island by 2015.
• Implementing reliable, ample, and affordable clean energy generation solutions.
• Creating a local clean-energy workforce to develop a sustainable long-term clean-energy economy
• Removing 7,000 metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions

Our Accomplishments

Since our formation in 2009, we have:

• Launched the Smart Power Demand Response Program in partnership with PSE
• Launched  RePower Bainbridge, a community-wide energy efficiency program in partnership with our partners the City of Bainbridge Island, Puget Sound Energy and many other local organizations.  
• Created one of the first ever Community Energy Dashboards, providing real time information on our total Island energy consumption and peak demand use.
